Refinished Dresser: Going from Neon to Nice
I was looking for hardwood flooring on Craigslist when IÂ came across a solid wood dresser that reminded me of my childhood furniture set for a bargain of $20… Needless to say we went to pick up the dresser when we picked up the flooring! Unfortunately this dresser was the colour of a traffic cone and looked as if it was likely to have several layers of paint to be scraped to get to bare wood, but the deal was so good I had to try. Sadly I forgot to take a before picture, but you get the idea. Supplies list Paint stripper Sander and sand paper Scraper Paint Linseed oil Drawer slides Handles/knobs I’d…

Project DIY: Transforming a Vintage Table
The DIY Project: Turning this vintage table into a turquoise beauty! Why I Love It Krista and I found this unique little, wooden table and fell in love with the size and shape of it. Vintage pieces always have so much character! The Plan We were so excited to give this wood table a new life! The hope was to preserve and highlight the wood grain on the top, but we decided the walnut top and oak bottom would have been too much of a contrast, so chose to paint the table one solid colour. We fell in love with a turquoise chalk paint and couldn’t wait to use it!…

Project DIY: 70’s Armoire
We love a good DIY project! Not only is it fun to give new life to old things, it is a great way to keep items out of the landfill. Part of a sustainability mindset is finding ways to use what we already have and therefore purchase less. The DIY Project: Making over a 70’s cabinet into a stylish armoire Why I Love It We were turning our den into a bedroom for our little girl but had to solve the problem of a closet as the room doesn’t have one! Rather than building something more permanent I decided to look for a standalone piece of furniture that had some…

Project DIY: Refinished Chairs
The DIY Project: Cleaning and Updating Wooden Dining Room Chairs Why I Love It These chairs, while visibly grungy, still had a lot of character. These chairs are solid wood and have beautiful carved detailing on the legs. It is rarer to see chairs with unique detailing on the backrest, so that made these extra special as well. It is worth looking passed the dirty surface on these as dirt is easy to wash away. The Plan The plan for these chairs is to give them a good clean, a fresh coat of paint and new fabric for the seats. Supplies List This list includes affiliate links. As an Amazon…

Project DIY: Lattice Table Makeover
We love a good DIY project! Not only is it fun to give new life to old things, it is a great way to keep items out of the landfill. Part of a sustainability mindset is finding ways to use what we already have and therefore purchase less. The DIY Project: Transforming this dated lattice table into a farmhouse style piece Why I Love It I fell in love with this piece the moment I laid eyes on it. I was so excited when I responded to the online ad that I typed in my phone number wrong! Thankfully, the seller was kind enough to reply by email even after…
