Project DIY: Transforming a Vintage Table
We love a good DIY project! Not only is it fun to give new life to old things, it is a great way to keep items out of the landfill. Part of a sustainability mindset is finding ways to use what we already have and therefore purchase less.

The DIY Project: Turning this vintage table into a turquoise beauty!
Why I Love It
Krista and I found this unique little, wooden table and fell in love with the size and shape of it. Vintage pieces always have so much character!
The Plan
We were so excited to give this wood table a new life! The hope was to preserve and highlight the wood grain on the top, but we decided the walnut top and oak bottom would have been too much of a contrast, so chose to paint the table one solid colour. We fell in love with a turquoise chalk paint and couldn’t wait to use it!
Supplies List

- Drop cloth
- Sandpaper
- Chalk Paint
- Foam Paint Brushes
- Furniture Wax
- Cloths for buffing
The Process
When using chalk paint, sanding down furniture is not always necessary. If the furniture has a glossy or bumpy surface, sanding the piece will allow for a more polished finish. Getting rid of the glossy stain will prevent it from bleeding through your chalk paint as well.
We used multiple coats of chalk paint to build a rich colour. The final touch was waxing and buffing the table to give it a slightly glossed finish.
