#MoneyMasterClass Recap-Week 51

This week was a short one and it really does feel like things are starting to wrap up for the class. The brief topics touched on were helping others and taking care of our stuff.

Helping Others

Gail has focused a lot on helping others this year–so much so that her requested “payment” for the #MoneyMasterClass was for donations to women’s shelters and food banks. She carries this message through the end of the year, talking about helping others this week.

#MoneyMasterClass December is great time to help someone else. Pay someone’s bus fare, offer an elderly person with groceries a ride, cook a meal for a local family that’s struggling, box up your kid’s toys and donate them to a local shelter.

#MoneyMasterClass Get outside yourself this week. Look at someone who could use your help and do something to make their life a little easier. You’ll feel great.

Stuff and Things

Are you a part of any barter groups or neighbourhood groups? They are a great way to connect with others for items to borrow and share. In my life, books, movies, craft supplies, and tools are regularly shared and it’s such a great way to save money!

#MoneyMasterClass We’re so used to looking for what we need or want, we forget to look at what we have. Can you trade with friends/neighbours/family? Think books, magazines, cookbooks, jigsaw puzzles. What else?

#MoneyMasterClass Take care of what you have to make it last. Have you vacuumed the back of your fridge? Have you sprayed your winter boots? Changed the furnace filter, washed your make-up brushes, oiled your tools?

#MoneyMasterClass It's a lot cheaper to maintain your car than to do the major repairs ignoring it brings. Ditto maintaining your home. Don't be penny wise and dollar foolish.

Closing Out the Year

I have been very impressed by your commitment to the 2020 #MoneyMasterClass. I actually wasn't sure we'd make it to December, so you've given me heart. And I'm glad I was able to do this, even in a year that brought its own unique challenges.
