Looking Back at our 2022 Blogging Year
Every time we cross that January 1st threshold into a new year, I’m shocked that time has sped by yet again. I’m not always very intentional about stopping to reflect on the previous year, but was inspired by one of Michelle’s latest posts at Boomer Eco Crusader to do just that.
Our 2022 Year of Blogging
Michelle’s post that I’m referring to is her 2022 Blog Recap of Best Posts and Highlights and it inspired me to think back on our blog and check out some of the unique stats that she references. (If you haven’t had a chance to view Michelle’s blog yet, this is a great post to check out as it lists some of her most popular posts!)
This past year had a number of challenges for both Krista and I with health and various other things life throws at us, but we’ve always managed to make writing content for our blog a priority since we love this little project of ours.
Top Blog Posts of 2022
We’re always grateful when people stop by to read our content. This blog has been a great way for us to express ourselves and share things we are passionate about. That people are joining us on this journey is so touching, so thank you!
It’s always interesting to see which of our posts are the most popular as judged by the ones with most traffic.
These are our top five posts of the year:
- How Good are Cork Yoga Mats? A Scoria World Review
- Money Master Class: A Year of Financial Guidance
- 20 Easy DIY Costumes to Make this Halloween
- How to Reuse Bread Bag Clips–Over 10 Ideas to Try
- 6 Reasons to Support Small and Local Businesses
Favourite Blog Posts of 2022
I love all of those most popular posts, but some posts hold a special place to me because of the topic or because of the challenge of writing on or communicating the topic.
Some of the posts I’m most proud of writing this year are:
- How Our Need to Shop is Ruining Our Planet
- Make Your Vegan Life Easier with these 5 Tips
- 40 Sustainable Thoughts to Celebrate Turning the Big Four-Oh
Of course, I’m just half of the writers on this blog and love Krista’s perspective. I especially love her creative ways of being low-waste and budget-friendly in her life.
Some of the posts by Krista I loved:
- Restoring connection with nature: Marking the solstice
- 4 Ways To Shrink Your Grocery Bill by Going Low Waste
- Plastic Free July: 3 Years On
2022 Blogging Collaborations
We had the opportunity to work with not only some amazing small businesses this year, but also an amazing group of bloggers for our Climate Change Collective series.
Check out our collaboration posts:
- Zero-Waste Small Business Profile: Jarr
- Plastic Free Snacking with Haumana Energy Bars
- Introducing Scoria World’s Ethically Made & Sustainable Meditation Cushions
- Sustainable & Natural Skincare with Gamanity Cosmetics
- Climate Change Collective: What you can do!
Our International Audience
One of the most fun blogging stats to look at is seeing where our readers are from. We can truly say that we have an international audience because we had visitors from 84 different countries! I was amazed when I saw that! It’s pretty inspiring to know that sustainability is such a global topic.
The majority of our traffic came from these 10 countries:
- Unites States
- Canada
- United Kingdom
- India
- Australia
- Ireland
- Phillipines
- China
- Germany
- Denmark
Cheers to a new year!
We’re looking forward to sharing this new year with you all! And are looking forward to inspiring new content to share.
A big thanks to Michelle at Boomer Eco Crusader for reminding me to pause and reflect on the past year.
How was your 2022? Do you stop and reflect on the past year as you step into the new one? We’d love to hear about it!
