6 Thoughtful last-minute Christmas gifts
The holiday season is in full swing, and as the countdown to Christmas begins, you may realize there are still a few people on your list to shop for. If you’re like me and you got a late start, chances are that shopping list is a bit longer than you’d like!
So if you do have some shopping still to do in the last week before Christmas, here are a few simple, (and budget-friendly and low waste!) gift ideas that can be tailored to ensure your loved ones feel appreciated, and can be sourced before the big day!
- Digital Gift Cards:
Choose a digital gift card from your recipient’s favorite store, restaurant, or streaming service. It’s a simple-to-source gift that may just provide a chance for your loved one to splurge on a treat that they wouldn’t usually buy!
- Subscription Services:
Consider gifting a subscription service that aligns with the interests of your loved ones. Whether it’s a magazine subscription, a monthly book box, or a streaming service, subscriptions keep the joy of giving going long after Christmas day. Another subscription service I’ve thought about gifting is a food or flower subscription – a useful gift that also supports local producers!
- DIY Gift Certificates:
Create personalized gift certificates for services you can offer, such as a home-cooked meal, a day of babysitting, or a relaxing spa day!
- Experience Gifts:
Instead of a physical item, opt for experiences like concert tickets, theater shows, or a weekend getaway. Many platforms offer last-minute deals on experiences, allowing you to give the gift of lasting memories.
You could also consider giving the gift of learning by enrolling your loved one in a virtual class. Whether it’s cooking, painting, or a language course, there are numerous online platforms offering exciting and educational experiences. Even better, enroll with them and learn together!
- Handmade Crafts:
If you enjoy crafting, pop on a Christmas movie and create a handmade gift. Whether it’s a knitted scarf, a personalized ornament, or a scrapbook filled with memories, handmade gifts are always appreciated!
Alison posted previously about two fantastic homemade gifts: Date Night Boxes and Words of affirmation gift.
Visit local markets or specialty stores for unique, locally crafted items. From handmade chocolates to custom candles, you’ll find one-of-a-kind gifts that support local businesses!
- E-books and Audiobooks:
For the bookworms in your life, consider gifting e-books or audiobooks. Many platforms allow you to purchase and send them instantly, making it an excellent last-minute option for literature lovers.

I really like the idea of gifting a subscription service/product that is linked to what someone likes/enjoys! It’s definitely great for last minute, but also shows you have thought of their interests, etc. Great list!
