Behind the Blog: Introducing Krista
Krista and I have been writing this little sustainability blog for three years now and it’s a project we are so proud of. In all of the things we talk about, though, ourselves is rarely one of them. That’s why I thought it would be a good idea to hit pause and take a moment to introduce ourselves a little further than our About Page. This week, I’m taking some time to introduce Krista to you all. I hope you love her as much as I do! Getting to Know Krista Krista and I met over 10 years ago when we were in a small study group together. We met…

7 ways to celebrate Mother’s Day 2023
Mother’s Day again! It’s hard to believe it but it’s already May! Not sure about you, but the year really seems to be flying by. May is a busy month for us with birthdays, anniversaries, and of course, Mother’s Day. My son just had his birthday and at the end of his “birthday week” where we’ve had many wonderful celebrations, he said that he hadn’t had enough time with me, and I felt the same. A great place to start is finding out when you can sow or start the plants you’d like for your garden. Get inspired by reviewing the Westcoast Seeds planting chart by region here! And a significant part of the emissions that are causing this change in climate can be traced to the energy used to warm and cool our homes. Many people think climate change mainly means warmer temperatures. But temperature rise is only the beginning of the story. Because the Earth is a system, where everything is connected, changes in one area can influence changes in all others. The consequences of climate change now include, among others, intense droughts, water scarcity, severe fires, rising sea levels, flooding, melting polar ice, catastrophic storms and declining biodiversity. Restoring connection with nature: Marking the solstice
In the past few weeks we’ve been exploring how a disconnection from nature can cause us to undertake activities that harm our planet. So this week I’d like to explore an way of restoring connection! There’s something about camping, whether you’re in the midst of the wilderness or something a little more luxurious, that restores our connection to the wide world. We start to live more by the rhythms of light and darkness, our activities are driven by the weather, and we hear and see nature more as we sit quietly in the midst of it. It’s so difficult to do this in the winter, in cold climates at least,…

There are so many great voices out there writing sustainable content, so I wanted to share a few things I’ve been reading lately.
