At Home Workouts To Keep Your New Year’s Resolution

While I’m not usually one to make New Year’s resolutions, I do understand the desire to have a fresh start with some new intentions as the calendar changes over.

This year I’m wanting to focus on getting healthier and that means exercising more. It’s been especially highlighted this year since the pandemic has kept me at home more.

Working out for you might be with the intention to lose weight, to build muscle, or to improve your overall health. If you’re like me and you’re starting from scratch, my list in this post are all easy, equipment free workouts for you to try.

As an added bonus, all of these workouts are short! So if you don’t have a lot of time, these workouts are perfect for you. These are easy workouts to fit into a busy schedule.

Remember, exercising can come with risks so be sure to consult with your medical professional before embarking on any new routines.

Equipment Free Workouts

These workouts are a great place to start because you don’t have to invest in any equipment to get started. Having an exercise mat might make things more comfortable for you, but I’ve done a number of these workouts without one.

Equipment free workouts mean there is no cost to you to get started and you don’t need to have a lot of space to store items–a win win! And that’s a couple less excuses to getting going.

Epic Life 7-Minute Workout

This is a great workout that you can do at your own pace by following the graphic or with some guidance by following the video. And it’s only 7 minutes! That’s a fairly easy chunk of time to find in a day.

4-Minute Workout

If seven minutes seems like too long of a workout, how about four? One of the reasons I gave this video a try was that it was short. But let me tell you, it was effective!

The video takes you through a variety of exercises: squats, mountain climbers, push ups, lunges. There is a commentator giving instructions and a countdown clock to take you through the exercises.

5-Minute Ab Workout

This video is titled a “high intensity workout that replaces cardio” but that is scarier than it seems! This video takes you through a series of plank exercises that target your abs. It’s a challenge, but one that you can tackle in stages.

It is done by the same people who made the 4-minute video above and has a similar structure with a commentator giving instructions and a countdown clock to take you through the exercises.

Arm Workout

For some at home, no equipment, arm workout exercises, check out this list of 8 arm exercises:

8 No Equipment Arm Exercises You Can do at Home

If you’re looking to target your arms and you don’t want to watch and follow along with a video, this list has a great variety of exercises you can work through.

Leg Workout

For some at home, no equipment, leg workout exercises, check out this list of 9 leg exercises:

9 No Equipment Leg Workout Exercises You Can do at Home

This is a great option for a no-video, no-equipment workout for your lower body. I love being able to watch a TV show as I go through some exercises in the list as a way to make my workout more enjoyable.

Full Body Stretch

Cooling down and stretching is just as important! I often neglect the stretching portion of my workouts, but feel so much better when I take the time.

This 15 minute stretching video is so relaxing. It takes you through a full body stretch without any talking from the teacher. Just easy to follow demonstrations and relaxing music.

Is exercising more one of your new year’s resolutions? What are your favourite ways to exercise at home?

Thanks for sharing! During the pandemic home work outs are really saving me. Even the 4 minute ones that you share help to get into a better mood and move a little.

Oh I suck at working out lol. I hate workouts and exercises but they have so many amazing benefits. I haven’t worked out in years but I’ll give working out a try. Xxx!

I hear you! That’s one of the main reasons I’m loving these short videos. They are so much more accessible for me than a long overwhelming one. Wishing you luck if you give working out a try! 🙂

That sounds like such a healthy thing to do! I am trying to add more stretching into my exercise routines. So great to hear they work so well for you 🙂

Love this! One of my goals this year is definitely to get more activity daily. I’ve been doing fun dance cardio which has seemed to work for me right now! I love all of these videos. I’ve actually bookmarked to try later. Thanks for sharing x

Dance cardio sounds like so much fun! Dancing is a great way to get exercise. Pre-pandemic I was taking adult ballet classes and can’t wait to get back to them 🙂

I’ve been working out on my exercise mat at home since April last year (I used to run). My favorite app for yoga is Down Dog, and they have a twin app for HIIT workouts too. I love how the app allows you to customize the muscle groups you want to focus on, the duration of each set, the instructor’s voice, the overall length of your workout, and so much more. You should definitely check it out, I highly recommend it! And no, I am not sponsored to say it hahah!

I will have to check it out! I have been having a lot of talks lately about yoga and how it could be beneficial for me. Thanks for the (non-sponsored lol) recommendation!

I’m currently working out at home and like anything that doesn’t require equipment so anything doing that suits me. I like the range of stuff you’ve included here, I definitely will be using some of these to switch up what I do as it can get a bit repetitive.
